Demand rejected

LUDHIANA: Punjab Finance Minister Manpreet Singh Badal on Wednesday rejected the main opposition Congress’ demand for a “white paper” on the economic health of state.

Dismissing the demand as “naive”, he said Rajinder Kaur Bhattal, the State Congress President who herself has been a Chief Minister, should have known that the budget presented every year on the floor of the assembly is nothing but a “white paper” on the economic position and policy of the state.

Earlier, addressing a conference of the Auto Component Manufacturers Association (North), Manpreet said a final shape was being given to the new industrial policy of Punjab.
