Pre-fabrication yard of US firm inaugurated

HES ties up with Reliance to transport natural gas reserves found in KG basin

Kakinada: Fabrication coordinator of the U.S.-based Helix Energy Solutions (HES) Patrick Homulle and project officer Henry Smith inaugurated the company’s pre-fabrication yard here on Wednesday.

HES is an international offshore energy firm that provides development and other field solutions to the energy market. Helix entered into a contract with Reliance Industries, in partnership with M/s Allseas, to transport the natural gas reserves Reliance had discovered in the Krishna-Godavari basin to energy markets in India and abroad.

Together, the companies will develop gas fields Dhirubhai-1 and Dhirubhai-3. The total gas field covers 7,200 square km located in the Bay of Bengal, 60 km southeast of Kakinada. The HES will get jumpers and spool pieces fabricated at its new facility in Kakinada.

Helix operates one of the largest fleets of vessels and support equipment in the industry, offering capabilities and technology to deliver the most complex of solutions to clients of any energy project. The scope of Helix is worldwide with ongoing projects in the Gulf of Mexico and other regions. Inchcape Shipping Services General Manager Ashok Dhawan was present.
