Naxalite surrenders

KORAPUT: Salvam Dula, a 25-year-old naxalite from Motu Dalam, surrendered before the district police in Malkangiri on Wednesday.

According to Satish Gajbaye, SP, Salvam was serving in the dalam under the leadership of Ashoka for the last one year. “Unable to withstand the mental and physical torture he had received in the camp, he surrendered to the police,” he added.

The police recovered arms and explosives at Ramavaram in the district on Tuesday basing on his information.

His surrender was made easier as no criminal cases were lodged against him during his working with the naxalites for he was engaged primarily to organise meetings in villages.
