KANNUR: A doctor suffered injuries when he escaped an attempt to abduct him while travelling in a car near Madappeedika under the Chokli police station limits in the early hours of Wednesday. The police said that the incident took place in the early morning. A youth came to the house of K. Padmanabhan, doctor at the government hospital at Chalil at around 5.30 a.m. saying that his mother was in a serious condition and that he brought a car to take the doctor to attend to the sick. The doctor agreed to go with him in the car and sat in the front seat of the vehicle. According to the complaint, when the car reached a deserted place, the youth who was on the wheel, stopped the car and pointed a pistol at him and tried to blindfold him with a piece of black cloth. The doctor rushed out of the car. He suffered injuries while fleeing from the spot. The police said an investigation was on.
