Dhyuthi – 2007 gets under way

COLOURS OF CREATIVITY: A painting competition in progress at ‘Dhyuthi - 2007,’ a cultural festival that began at Government Engineering College, Thrissur, on Wednesday.

Thrissur: ‘Dhyuthi - 2007,’ a cultural festival being held as part of the golden jubilee celebrations of Government Engineering College, Thrissur, began on Wednesday.

Calicut University Pro Vice-Chancellor Gopinathan Pillai inaugurated the three-day festival. Competitions in creative writing, cartooning and painting were held. Contests in Thiruvathirakkali, Oppana, western dance, drama, orchestra and ‘step-n-synchro’ will be held on Thursday.

Nearly 800 students from 70 colleges across the State are taking part. Competitions are being held in 24 events. Prizes to the tune of Rs.1.5 lakh are being given.
