TIRUPATTUR: Tirupattur residents complain about mosquito menace in several areas of the town. Residents of Sai Baba Colony coming under the Pachal panchayat near here alleged that drainage water flowed in the open owing to the lack of proper drainage network.
Though Sai Baba Colony was close to Tirupattur, it was attached to Pachal panchayat coming under the Jolarpet panchayat union.
Residents alleged that the Pachal panchayat did not get adequate funds to provide even basic amenities. Many people said that their civic woes would be addressed if Sai Baba Colony is attached to the Tirupattur Municipality.
They also said that the problem would continue as most of the areas under the Jolarpet panchayat union did not have a drainage network.
Residents of various residential colonies had no other option but to let out the drainage water in the open.
The Jolarpet panchayat union had been talking of providing underground drainage network. But no sustained efforts had been made to address this issue, the residents alleged.
Some councillors of the Jolarpet panchayat union blamed the residents for their lack of awareness. Instead of letting out the drainage water on the road, they should inform the civic body to clean their septic tanks, the councillors said.
