Disgruntled JD(S) leaders eager to join us: Kharge

Special Correspondent

Congress to move Governor on ‘irregularities’ during Janata Dal (Secular)-BJP rule

‘Differences in a big party like Congress are normal’

KPCC revamp likely in December

M. Mallikarjun Kharge

Bangalore: President of the Karnataka Pradesh Congress Committee M. Mallikarjun Kharge on Wednesday said that some disgruntled leaders and MLAs from the Janata Dal (S) were eager to join the Congress.

Speaking to The Hindu, Mr. Kharge said some Janata Dal (S) leaders along with their supporters had expressed their desire to join the Congress, but he could not disclose their names because they were yet to take a final decision.

Mr. Kharge said a revamp of the KPCC was likely in the first or second week of December. In a large party like the Congress, he said, differences were normal, but the rank and file had maintained total unity.

Party spokesperson V.S. Ugrappa said a memorandum would be submitted to Governor Rameshwar Thakur next month listing the irregularities allegedly committed by the H.D. Kumaraswamy and B.S. Yeddyurappa governments.

He said the Governor would be urged to initiate action against those responsible for the “misdeeds.”

The Binnypet Block Congress Committee launched its membership drive at Binnypet here and the function was attended by a large number of Youth Congress workers.

Inaugurating the programme, the former Minister V. Somanna said the party workers, during their door-to-door campaign, would make the people aware about the corruption during the Janata Dal (S)-BJP coalition government.

Unity

Emphasising the importance of maintaining unity among the cadre, Mr. Somanna called upon the Youth Congress workers to enrol one lakh members in the coming days. Such a programme, he said, would strengthen the hands of All-India Congress Committee (AICC) general secretary Rahul Gandhi.

Blaming the BJP and the Janata Dal (S) leaders for the deterioration of the quality of administration leading to chaos in development works, Mr. Somanna urged the workers to bring back the Congress to power.

The former Minister R. Ramalinga Reddy; M. Krishnappa, former MLC; Dinesh Gundu Rao, MLA; and the former Deputy Mayor M. Lakshminarayana were present.
