Church to resist government move

KOCHI: Cardinal Varkey Vithayathil, Major Archbishop of the Ernakulam-Angamaly Archdiocese, has said that educational institutions run by the Church will not accept government-appointed teachers.

He told presspersons here on Wednesday that the State government’s move to appoint teachers in these institutions through reforms in the Kerala Education Rules would be resisted by all means.

The institutions run by the Church management spread true values and that could not be compromised on any account, he said.
