PATIALA: The Vice-Chancellor of Punjabi University here, Swarn Singh Boparai, and the Registrar, Baldev Singh Sandhu, have resigned from their posts.

Mr. Boparai said he had submitted his resignation to the Punjab Governor, who is the Chancellor of the university. He refused to give any reasons for his move, but said he would speak at an “appropriate” time.

Following Mr. Sandhu’s resignation, a senior faculty member from the Law Department, S. S. Khaira, has been appointed acting Registrar.

Mr. Boparai said he was satisfied with the development of the university during his tenure. “I am happy over the development that the university has witnessed during my five-year tenure as Vice-Chancellor,” he said- PTI
