This Day That Age
Problems arising from the report of the Official Language Committee were discussed at a conference of party leaders in the Madras State Legislature held on November 27 at the Secretariat, Mr. K. Kamaraj, Chief Minister of Madras, presiding. The purpose of the conference was to elicit the views of the leaders for enabling the State Government to draft a memorandum on an agreed basis to be submitted to the Parliament Committee which will consider the Commission’s Report. It is learnt that there was “broad agreement” and “general concurrence” at the discussion on the approach made by the Government to the language problem. The Chief Minister made an appeal for a proper approach to the problem so that they could come to an agreed formula.
