Letters to the Editor
It is unfair to draw a comparison between Taslima and Mr. Husain. While Taslima was banished from her motherland, Mr. Husain left India on his own. Nothing stops him from returning and facing the court cases against him. There are any number of rationalists and secular Hindus who will provide him enough security. J.V. Reddy, Nellore At least in Mr. Husain’s case, we know why Hindu fundamentalists are issuing threats against him. How many of us know why Muslim fundamentalists are gunning for Taslima? We are told nothing about the content of her writing; we only get to hear fatwas against her. Instead of raising a hue and cry over Taslima’s works, Muslims would do well to concentrate on other issues. They can issue a fatwa against terrorists who kill innocent civilians in the name of religion. Suresh Nandigam, Hanuman Junction
