Kulithalai Bar members observe Law Day

Lawyers reminded of their great contribution to the freedom struggle
KULITHALAI: Members of Kulithalai Bar observed Law Day calling for continued and consistent efforts to maintain the rule of law in the land. On the occasion, they also took a pledge to uphold the rule of law.
The Bar Association members met on Tuesday under the chairmanship of newly elected president M. Jagannathan. Former secretary of Kulithalai Bar and Government Pleader Shahul Hameed welcomed the gathering.
Mr. Jagannathan insisted on probity in public life and reminded the members of the great contribution that the lawyers’ community had made in the Freedom Struggle and the role of lawyers in nation-building since Independence. Lawyers constituted the largest political community, playing the lead role in every sphere of political activity, he said.
Senior Bar members Jayaraman, A. Sardar and R. Natarajan lauded the members in observing the day and insisted on legal literacy and the role of lawyers in promoting that aspect.
Mr. Jagannathan administered the Law Day pledge to the members.
Association Vice-president V. Jayalakshmi, delivering the vote of thanks, stressed the need for more space for women lawyers to operate in the profession in general and spoke of the opportunities for women that needed to be exploited.
Vice-president of Kulithalai Bar Association S. Jayavel, senior advocates B. Khaja Mohideen, Kamaraj, R. Kubendran, Musiri Bhasker, V. Senthil Kumar, N. Senthil Kumar, Ramanathan, E. Arumugham, Muthusamay and Chinasamy were among those who participated.
