University of Teesside, one of the leading universities in England, has partnered with Takshaa Academy For The Artist, Bangalore. Under the arrangement, students from Takshaa will have the opportunity to study using the best of provisions available in the emerging areas of multimedia, animation and gaming. Cliff Allan, Deputy Vice-Chancellor, University of Teesside, said, “With rapidly growing demand for graduates to work in the animation industry, it is important to produce graduates who have had high quality education in fast emerging areas of animation. The cutting edge courses of Takshaa and the University of Teesside provide a real competitive advantage for our students in the market.” As per the memorandum of understanding, the university will map courses offered by Takshaa against its degree programmes. The U.K. university will also provide appropriate credits, subject to strong academic audit, for students to achieve advanced entry into the university’s programme. Mani Ittina, chairman of Takshaa, said that with so many international organisations outsourcing their IT requirements to India, Takshaa responded to the need for graduates, who could enter the workforce by offering well-structured and acknowledged qualifications. The need for graduates who are able to slip straight into the workforce was vital for these sectors, he said. The partnership of the university and Takshaa showed a determination to ensure that local workforce had access to education and training, which were acclaimed qualifications in the industry. Applications invitedTo bridge the dearth of globally relevant travel and tourism professionals available for the industry, Kuoni Academy of Travel (KAT) in collaboration with International School of Tourism Management, Switzerland, is offering a postgraduate course in travel management, a short-term course for tour managers, and entry-level courses for airline and travel agency desk staff. The courses would be conducted by leading industry professionals from airlines, hotels and travel companies, who would share their experience and skill sets with the students. Admissions were open for the third batch of KAT-IST courses, which were scheduled to start on December 12. Alumni from KAT were currently employed in Air India, Kuwait Airways, Turkish Airlines, Kingfisher Airlines, Kuoni Travel Group India and Thomas Cook (India), to name a few.
