Modifying the computer is not only for appearance, but also helps maintain its performance life
Aesthetic feel: A computer need not look like a box of wires. Hyderabad: For some their computer is not only about work but also making the interior setup of the computer look futuristic. When the cabinet aka ‘tower’ of the computer is opened up, most of us are bound to find dust. However, making one’s computer appear and work like a ‘mean machine’ is what the ‘wired junkies’ are up to these days. “Cables that jut out from the computer are put into U.V. braided sleeves so that there is sufficient airflow inside and the processor is kept at a cool temperature,” says Mohammed Seham, an animator. “The cabinet is lined up with ‘cold cathode tubes’. U.V. sleeves absorb light from the cathode tubes and glow in the dark giving the tower a typical ‘star wars’ look,” he explains. How it helpsModifying the computer may seem solely for the appearance. The accessories help maintain the performance and life of the computer. Many accessories like fans, slot coolers and memory coolers take care of RAM, graphic cards or any other device that are plugged into slots on the mother board. “When one works on high-end programs that push the computer to its limits, the slots do get heated up. So the slot coolers keep graphic cards and other tools at cooler temperatures,” says K. Kedar, a student at Osmania University. Apart from giving the computer an aesthetic look and boosting performance, accessorising your computer might fire a huge one in your pockets as these parts are ordered from the net. But then, it’s not only about the performance, looks matter too!
