The hero of the movie “King Kong”, to be screened on HBO this December. HBO has promised an absolute feast for TV-watchers this coming December with a line-up of smash hits ready to be beamed to the small screen. The cinematic journey takes off with “Final Destination-3”on December 1, the third in a series of popular movies that deals with a high school senior who has a premonition of a roller coaster ride that goes wrong. X-Files’ David Duchovny and the gorgeous Julianne Moore come together in “Evolution”, an extra-terrestrial comic adventure teeming with strange worm-like creatures from outer space. “Evolution” hits the small screen on December 2. Freak-flick addicts will have much to scream about on December 5 with “House of Wax” hitting the tube. A rehash of the popular friends-road-trip-car-breaks-down formula and starring Elisha Cuthbert and Paris Hilton, the movie also abounds with eye candy. The joyride continues with an action film, “The Replacement Killers”, on December 7 starring Chow Yun Fat and the delectable Mira Sorvino. Chow Yun Fat plays a serial killer trying to rid himself of the shadow of his past misdeeds while trying to prevent the murders of his close associates. December 10 will see the screening of “Monster-In-Law” starring the exotic Jennifer Lopez and the seasoned Jane Fonda. The rip-roaring comedy is sure to prove a hit with the TV-watchers. As part of its “Blockbuster of the Month” programme, HBO will screen “Da Vinci Code” on December 14. Based on the eponymous bestseller by Dan Brown, the movie has Tom Hanks enacting the role of symbology professor Robert Langdon. December 28 will see Harry Potter and his friends returning to Hogwarts for their third year in “Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban”. However, HBO has most definitely reserved the best for the last. New Year’s Eve will witness the screening of the larger-than-life “King Kong” starring Naomi Watts, Jack Black and Adrian Brody. Certainly a “gigantic” way to bring in a brand New Year. Kunal Diwan
