KANNUR: The district police have warned of action against political parties and other organisations staging processions, demonstrations and public meetings without permission from the police. A press release here said that the Supreme Court had ordered that those conducting processions, rallies and meetings should submit requests for permission before the Superintendent of Police three days in advance. Action would be initiated for not taking permission or violating conditions in the permission order. The release said that strict measures had been enforced against use of public address systems in the district for controlling sound pollution. Using public address systems was unlawful between 10 p.m. and 6 a.m. The parties, organisations and establishments that wanted to use the systems should apply before the Superintendent of Police or the Deputy Superintendent of Police seven days in advance. Action would be taken against offenders under the environmental protection Act, the Kerala police Act and the Indian Penal Code.
