Winners: MSF students taking out a victory march on the Government College campus in Malappuram on Thursday.

MALAPPURAM: The Muslim Students Federation (MSF), the student wing of the Indian Union Muslim League (IUML), made a sweeping victory in the college elections held in the district on Thursday.

At several colleges, the MSF joined hands with the Kerala Students Union (KSU) and defeated the Students Federation of India (SFI). At some colleges such as EMEA College and Government College, Malappuram, the MSF fought and won the elections alone.

The SFI won the elections only in two colleges in the district.

Although MES Ponnani College, Ponnani, had been a bastion of the SFI, the federation had pyrrhic victory this time there. The MSF wrested four seats from the SFI at MES Ponnani College.

At Amal College, Nilambur, the SFI defeated the MSF with the help of the KSU.

At two Government colleges, the MSF-KSU combine handed down defeats to the SFI. At Government College, Malappuram, MSF alone captured seven out of the nine seats.
