For potable water: AIADMK activists staging a pot - breaking demonstration in Puducherry on Thursday. PUDUCHERRY: Activists of the All India Anna Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (AIADMK) on Thursday staged a demonstration before the office of the Public Works Department (Water Supply) at Sonampalayam protesting against the government’s alleged failure to ensure supply of safe drinking water in Puducherry town. The activists broke empty clay pots as a mark of protest against the “indifference” of the government on the issue. They also raised slogans demanding early steps to solve the drinking water problem. Secretary of the regional unit of the AIADMK A. Anbalagan said that the government had been adopting an “indifferent attitude” though Rs. 250 crore was earmarked for projects under the Public Works Department. He called for steps on a war-footing to solve the drinking water problem.
