Corrections and clarifications

The seventh paragraph in a report “Sporadic violence mars Assam bandh” (November 27, 2007) was: “Opposition Asom Gana Parishad president and the former Jharkhand Chief Minister, Babulal Marandi, in a joint statement, alleged that Saturday’s violence was a ‘planned conspiracy of the ruling Congress’.” The name of the AGP president, Mr. Brindaban Goswami, had been left out.

The last paragraph in a report on the World Youth Chess championships, “Furtado beats Nguyen” (“Sport”, November 28, 2007) was: “In the under-8 girls, Mary Ann Gomes lost her second game in a row to lag one point behind the leader Nemcova of the Czech Republic.” It should have been “under-18” category.
