Kurnool downs Krishna

VIJAYAWADA: Kurnool defeated host Krishna 2-1 in the boys’ segment of the four-day AP State sub-junior volleyball tournament at the Indira Gandhi Municipal Corporation Stadium here on Thursday.

The results:

Boys: Guntur bt Srikakulam 2-0 (25-12, 25-21), Kurnool bt Krishna 2-1 (25-22, 18-25, 15-12), Medak bt Anantapur 2-1 (25-20, 24-26, 15-9).

Vizianagaram bt Vizag 2-1 (25-20, 11-25, 15-7), Nalgonda bt Karimnagar 2-1 (25-10, 10-25, 15-11) West Godavari bt Adilabad 2-0 (25-15, 25-10).

Mahaboobnagar bt Ranga Reddy 2-0 (25-15, 25-11), Hyderabad bt Nizamabad 2-0 (25-14, 25-12) East Godavari bt Kadapa 2-0 (25-20, 25-17), Chittoor bt Nellore 2-0 (25-10, 25-16).

Girls: Guntur bt Srikakulam 2-0 (25-17, 26-24), Warangal bt Vizag 2-0 (25-12, 25-15), Krishna bt Kurnool 2-0 (25-18, 25-10).

Nalgonda bt Medak 2-0 (25-17, 25-10), Hyderabad bt Prakasam 2-1 (25-17, 14-25, 15-11).

Khammam bt Adilabad 2-1 (25-14, 22-25, 15-5), West Godavari bt Vizianagaram 2-0 (25-14, 25-10), Adilabad bt Kurnool 2-1 (25-23, 18-25, 15-9).

NSM PS in super league

NSM Public School and Sri Kakatiya entered the super league of the Krishna District Cricket Association’s inter-school tournament for the Nori Sivaramakrishna Memorial Trophy, defeating Nobel and SDMYRR respectively here on Thursday.

The scores:

Nobel Kids EMS 77 in 24 overs (Joy Darshan three for 24) lost to NSM PS 78 for one in nine overs.

SDMYRR HS 114 in 22 overs (Vamsi Krishna six for 29) lost to Sri Kakatiya HS 115 for five in 22.2 overs.

JKC posts win

Guntur’s JKC College defeated Koneru Lakshmaiah College of Engineering by four wickets in the Acharya Nagarjuna University inter-collegiate (inter-zonal) cricket tournament here on Thursday.

Earlier, Dr. K.R.K. Prasad, principal, VRS Engineering College, inaugurated the tournament.

The score: KLCE 152 in 39.1 overs (K. Ganesh Babu four 22) lost to JKC College 153 for six in 31.3 overs.

Hyderabad 2K run

The Hyderabad District Athletic Association (HDAA) will conduct the Hyderabad 2K run at NTR Gardens, Necklace Road, Hyderabad on Sunday from 6.30 a.m. for boys and girls under 10, 12 and 15 years, besides men and women.

The competition is open to students of schools, colleges and the general public.

There will be cash prizes for the first three places and medals and certificates for all participants.
