CHANDIGARH: The State-owned Punjab Agro Juices Limited has accepted Pepsico India’s offer for running a plant in Hoshiarpur to process kinnows, tomatoes and other horticultural products. A formal agreement to this effect has been signed by representatives of Pepsico India and Punjab Agro in the presence of Chief Minister Parkash Singh Badal here. Pepsico said it would finalise the kinnow procurement plans by the first week of December and start its procurement from across Punjab from the end of December. Pepsico also said it would soon initiate contract faming for tomatoes and other crops in the State. The Punjab Government has set up a modern 400 metric tons per day processing plant in Hoshiarpur. A trial processing of kinnow, mosambi, tomatoes, mangoes and melons has already been carried out. — PTI
