Local officials told to take up mosquito-control measures
ADILABAD: A two-member Central team comprising an expert in the field of vector-borne diseases among others, visited some of the fever-ravaged villages in Indervelli and Sirpur (U) mandals to determine the causes for intensity of tropical fevers in Adilabad agenct areas.
Dr. K. Nagender Reddy, from the Hyderabad regional office of the Health and Family Welfare Department of the Union Government and Dr. R.C. Sharma Joint Director of the National Vector-borne Diseases Control, New Delhi, were accompanied by Dr. Shiva Shankar, Deputy Director, Malaria, Hyderabad.
Dr. Nagender told The Hindu that they instructed the officials to initiate mosquito-control measures immediately as they found the anopheles mosquito breeding freely even in drinking water sources.
