TASMAC bar raided; seven LPG cylinders seized

TIRUPUR: Tirupur Revenue Divisional Officer B. Murugesh on Thursday conducted surprise check at a TASMAC shop and bar at Santhaipet. The raid lasted for nearly three hours.
Seven LPG cylinders meant for domestic use was seized from the bar. The cylinders were handed over to the Civil Supplies Department. Besides verifying stock and cash, Mr. Murugesh checked the structural stability of the bar, cleanliness, drinking water and toilet facilities. Dismayed over the poor sanitary condition, Mr. Murugesh said that he would send a detailed report to the Collector, based on which further action would be taken.
Mr. Murugesh said that surprise checks would be conducted at all the bars across the city. He warned that if discrepancies were found in the service, action would be initiated against bar licencees. The licence owners of bars should ensure all aspects, including ventilation and cleanliness of the bars.
