Businessman found dead

TAMBARAM: A businessman was found dead on the bund of the Tiruneermalai Lake near Pallavaram on Thursday.
The body was noticed by visitors on Thursday morning.
The Pallavaram police identified the deceased as S.Ramanathan (46), one of the partners of a leather tannery unit in Nagalkeni, near the spot where he was found dead.
A resident of Lakshmipuram in Chromepet, Ramanathan was last seen on Wednesday evening, when he was supervising processed leather being loaded onto a lorry.
An expensive mobile phone and a purse were reported missing.
Though the police did not eliminate the possibility of a murder for gain, they said they were probing it from different angles.
The victim was attacked with a stone at the back of his head, they added.
