SHG services across 33 mandals to be utilised

HYDERABAD: All Government offices in Ranga Reddy district will display posters of the ‘108’ service run by Emergency Management Research Institute (EMRI) prominently as part of efforts to improve awareness among people.
At the district coordination committee meeting here on Thursday, District Collector Praveen Prakash said services of self-help group members across all 33 mandals would also be used for the purpose.
The measures were being launched in view of the need for all concerned to work together in making emergency response more effective and save lives.
The meeting predominantly discussed the subject of emergency - medical, police and fire, with specific reference to EMRI’s ‘108’ service, which is substantially funded by the Government.
Those present included Joint Collectors Solomon Arockiaraj and Seshadri and P. Munuswamy, Deputy Commissioner of Police, Traffic, and N. Sudhakar, EMRI’s chief operating officer. Government doctors complained about lack of orthopaedicians in Government-run health centres and hospitals.
