Salem: Tigers XI Cricket Club scored a three-wicket win over AVR Cricket Club in the Canara Bank-SDCA first division league at the Government Engineering College grounds recently. At the Neelambal grounds, Davaram Cricket Club, after posting 220 for nine, conceded its match to Blue Star Cricket Club. The scores: First division: AVR CC 108 in 45 overs lost to Tigers XI CC 109 for seven in 26.3 overs; Davaram CC 220 for nine in 42 overs concedes to Blue Star CC 66 for no loss in 10.1 overs (K. Nagarajuna 52 not out). Second division: Chemplast CC 162 in 45 overs (P.T. Arun Kumar 41, R. Nirmal Kumar four for 26) lost to Power CC 166 for six in 35.4 overs. Third division: Parks XI 187 in 40 overs (Akbar 62, Ismail 41) bt SISCOL CC 179 in 40 overs (M.K. Senthil 40); Metro CC 161 in 30 overs (Rajeevan 48) lost to Montfort School CC 162 for seven in 26.3 overs (Palaniappan 62). State level chessAt Coimbatore, a State level chess tournament for regional level winners of the NIIT@School connected institutions will be held at the Suburban HSS in Ramnagar on November 30. Players from Chennai, Coimbatore, Tiruchi, Madurai, Namakkal and Shenkottah are expected to participate. The Coimbatore region is represented by R. Kaviarasu, R. Vikram and R. Naveen Rajkumar from Suburban HSS. The tournament, held under the guidance of the World chess champion Viswanathan Anand, is being promoted in schools across the country. Throwball referees’ clinicKumaraguru College of Technology and Coimbatore District Throwball Association will jointly conduct a State level throwball referees’ clinic at the KCT campus on December 7. The one-day clinic will focus on the latest additions to the game’s rules and regulations. The convenor of the Referees’ Board of the Throwball Federation of India and other international referees will conduct the classes, which will be followed by an examination conducted by the Throwball Association of Tamil Nadu.
