Easy for Aston Villa

BLACKBURN: Aston Villa scored three goals in the second half to beat Blackburn 4-0 in Wednesday’s only Premier League game.

John Carew gave Villa the lead against the run of play in the 29th minute, and Gareth Barry added the second from the penalty spot in the 53rd after Ryan Nelsen was sent off for bringing down Ashley Young.

Young then scored the third goal in the 81st minute, and Marlon Harewood made it 4-0 in the 89th after former United States goalkeeper Brad Friedel knocked Carew’s initial shot into the striker’s path.
