CBI official lodges complaint
Staff Reporter
NEW DELHI: A Central Bureau of Investigation official has lodged a complaint with the Delhi police alleging that a lawyer obstructed him from carrying out his duty and assaulted him at Karkardooma here.
Acting on a complaint that an Assistant Sub-Inspector posted with the Krishna Nagar police station was demanding money to help a man obtain bail in a case involving a bailable offence, the CBI laid a trap at the Karkardooma court complex on Tuesday.
According to the CBI, the accused asked the complainant to pay Rs. 5,000 to a lawyer.
Soon after the money allegedly changed hands, the CBI sleuths rounded up the lawyer, but the ASI managed to give them the slip.
It is alleged that the CBI official was assaulted by a lawyer, following which the police were called in. On the basis of the complaint, the Anand Vihar police have registered a case under Section 186 and Section 353 of the Indian Penal Code, the police said.
A CBI spokesperson on Thursday said the ASI had been named in the FIR, but appropriate action would be taken against the accused lawyer as and when required.
