According to Shahadra (North) Zone Deputy Commissioner A. K. Singh, the MCD retrieved nearly eight acres of municipal land at the Tahirpur Complex near Dilshad Garden from encroachers. This land was being illegally occupied by land sharks who had constructed semi-concrete and “kuchha” structures, jhuggis and make-shift toilets on the site.
Mr Singh said: “We removed 60 hutments, 35 concrete structures, 15 ‘khokhas’ and 10 toilets that had been illegally constructed on Government land. Assistance was also provided by two companies and one battalion of the police. ”
