Christmas Bazaar today

BANGALORE: The aroma of freshly baked bread. Bright linen on over-laden tables. Vendors hawking their wares. Voices hailing old friends. Heavy bags and light purses. Happy laughter of children with Santa, photographs of the happy occasion to treasure, “sleigh” rides, face painting, wreath-making, home-baked treats from all over the world.

This is Bangalore’s own Christmas Bazaar, organised by the Overseas Women’s Club, and a cheerful way to herald the festive season on December 1 at the St. Mark’s Cathedral grounds between noon and 5 p.m. The organisers have a piece of advice: bring a big bag to usher in the holiday spirit by browsing through the brands and homemade stuff.

Admission fee is Rs. 100 for adults, Rs. 50 for children. Gate collections will go to 26 charities supported by the club.
