Reality shows: an educationist responds
Mary Roy,
Principal of the school Pallikoodam in Kottayam, writes, in response to the report published in these columns on November 29 under the headline ‘Reality shows kill talent: Karthik’:
Of course, reality shows kill talent. It breaks my heart to see children and young adults dressed in outlandish clothes soliciting attention and votes as if they are street walkers.
Sobbing children and angry adults must carry deep scars through their lives, because of the hype, the publicity and the public rejection they face.
The judges are generally not educated in the art of music and dance, and their comments are uproarious. The deliberate contempt shown to the Malayalam language by the “anchors” is saddening. Stop these shows immediately.
