Three drown in a quarry pit

Bangalore: Two elderly men drowned in a quarry pit, near Yelahanka in Chikkajala police station limits on the outskirts of the city on Wednesday evening.
The police said the two workers from Sonnapanahalli had been to a quarry pit near Bettadalasoor to wash clothes. After one of them slipped into the pit, the other tried to rescue him and both drowned. The police gave their names as Muniyappa (65) and Venkateshappa (55).
In another incident, 13-year-old Mahesh drowned at another quarry pit at Kadiganahalli in the same vicinity on Tuesday evening. He was son of Saravana, a worker, the police said. The Fire and Emergency Services personnel on Thursday removed the three bodies from the pits. The Chikkajala police have registered a case.
Suicide
A young doctor committed suicide by hanging herself from a ceiling fan at her house in Indiranagar police station limits on Wednesday evening. The police gave her name as Manjula (29).
