Verdict against trader upheld

Rourkela: Additional district and sessions court here has upheld the order of a lower court in sentencing a businessman to undergo rigorous imprisonment for one year with a fine of Rs. 60,000 in a cheque bouncing case.

Additional district judge V. Jayashree upheld the verdict of the sub-divisional judicial magistrate Panposh and directed the businessman, Omprakash Choudhury, to undergo rigorous imprisonment for one year with a penalty of Rs. 60,000.

The SDJM, G. Mohapatra, found the businessman guilty of issuing a cheque for Rs. 20,000 to another businessman Ashok Kumar Sahu on August 10, 2004 without having money in his account. -PTI
