Dharam Singh denies differences among party leaders in State

Staff Correspondent

DAVANGERE: The former Chief Minister N. Dharam Singh has denied any differences among Congress leaders in the State.

He said reports of differences between him and Karnataka Pradesh Congress Committee (KPCC) president M. Mallikarjun Kharge were a creation of the media.

Talking to presspersons here on Friday, Mr. Dharam Singh said that the Congress had made no attempt to form a government in the State with the help of the break-away faction of the Janata Dal (S) led by the former Deputy Chief Minister M.P. Prakash.

No attempt

Mr. Prakash might have met Congress leaders in Delhi, but it did not mean that there had been an attempt to form a government in the State with the support of the Congress, he said. He also denied that senior party leaders Priyaranjan Dasmunsi and Margaret Alva had offered support to JD(S) supremo H.D. Deve Gowda to form a government in the State, if he severed ties with the Bharatiya Janata Party. He said that AICC president Sonia Gandhi did not want to interfere in State politics. The BJP and the JD(S) were given enough opportunity to form a government.
