Dera supporter moves court
Staff Reporter
NEW DELHI: A supporter of Dera Sacha Sauda of Sirsa in Haryana has moved the Delhi High Court seeking quashing of a Delhi Police order withdrawing their earlier permission to the Dera to hold a “satsang” (congregation) at the Delhi Development Authority’s sports ground in Narela here this Sunday.
Justice Ravindra Bhat posted the petition for further hearing on Saturday.
The petitioner, Charan Singh Kandera, submitted that the organisers of the congregation had taken permission from the DDA and the city police to hold the “satsang”. They had also deposited the booking amount with the DDA, but suddenly on November 28 the police informed them that they had withdrawn the permission to hold the “satsang” in view of “intelligence inputs”, the petition said.
The petitioner alleged that the order to withdraw the permission violated the principles of natural justice and was arbitrary as the police had not heard them before taking the decision. He urged the Court to set aside the order and permit Dera Sacha Sauda to organise the “satsang” on the scheduled date.
