Cost Convention begins

KOCHI: Finance executives have a key role to play in ensuring success of industrial units. Cost management needs to be effectively utilised for the future of the country and hence creation of a pool of cost management executives was necessary, the former president of Institute of Cost & Works Accountants of India N.P. Sukumaran has said.

He was delivering the keynote address at Cost Convention 2007, the south India regional Cost Convention of ICWAI here on Friday.

The two-day convention was inaugurated by Kochouseph Chittilappally, entrepreneur who had created successful brands in electrical and entertainment sectors. In his address, he said a fast and steady approach was essential to succeed in ventures.

ICWAI president Chandra Wadhwa said the cost and works accountants had a challenging task to take up. Outsourcing and networking had become the buzzwords in business. Maximum capacity utilisation would enable one to stay in competition, he said.
