Six more coaches for Science Express

Kapurthala: The Rail Coach Factory here today rolled out six more coaches for ‘Science Express’, a unique exhibition train specially designed to arouse the curiosity of youth in the field of science and technology.

The train was flagged off by Prime Minister Manmohan Singh and German Chancellor Angela Merkel in New Delhi on October 30 on a journey of 57 cities across the country over a period of six months. At present, the train has six coaches.

RCF General Manager S. K. Suri said the coaches for the train were manufactured by RCF and exhibits have been installed by two German firms Max Plank society and Archimedes

German Ambassador to India Bernd Muetzelburg on Friday visited the RCF workshop to see the new coaches.

The special train, a unique version on rails of the famous science tunnel exhibition of Germany, focuses on 12 advanced areas of research in the field of science and technology. PTI
