Five children injured in accident
Special Correspondent
TAMBARAM: Five children were injured when a van in which they were travelling to school lost control and fell on its side on Medavakkam Main Road near Tambaram on Thursday . Two children were hospitalised. Police said the van was heading to a private school in Pushpa Nagar, Medavakkam. There were more than 20 children in the van. The vehicle had picked up students from Nanganallur and the nearby areas. The van lost control and fell on its side when it turned left from the main road.
As the vehicle landed on bushes, most of the children escaped unhurt. Five of them — K. Revathy (13), P. Saranya and G. Ponmani, both aged six, A. Dixon (9) and Karthik (5) — were injured and rushed to a private hospital nearby, where they were administered first aid.
While three of them were discharged, Revathy and Karthik were admitted to Kamakshi Memorial Hospital in Pallikaranai as they sustained head injuries. Police said a scan was performed on them and doctors said that the children were out of danger.
