Akali (Mann) splits

Ludhiana: The Shiromani Akali Dal (Amritsar) led by former IPS officer Simranjit Singh Mann on Friday split with its former senior vice- resident Daljit Singh Bittu and his supporters removing Mr. Mann from the post of president and appointing a five-member Presidium to run the party.

Mr. Bittu and his supporters held a meeting at the historical Gurdwara Manji Sahab Alamgir, about 15km from here, and decided to retain the name of SAD (A) for the party. PTI
