Scheme for disabled

Bangalore: The State Government is implementing the rural rehabilitation programme for persons with disabilities from this year, under which 5,828 persons with disabilities will be provided job opportunities, a press release from the Directorate of Welfare of Disabled and Senior Citizens said.
The Government had sanctioned Rs. 5.92 crore in its budget towards this programme. The aim of the programme was to bring the disabled to the mainstream through providing them facilities offered by various departments at their doorstep. Of the total jobs reserved for the persons with disabilities, 30 per cent would be earmarked for women candidates.
Rehabilitation volunteers recruited at the gram panchayat level would be given an honorarium of Rs. 700 a month and Rs. 50 will be given towards stationery expenses.
At the taluk level, “multipurpose rehabilitation volunteers” will be given an honorarium of Rs. 1,800 and Rs. 200 for stationery expenses.
