Bulk carrier delivered

Special Correspondent

KOCHI: ‘Clipper Tenacious,’ the sixth and the last in a series of Bulk Carriers built by the Cochin Shipyard (CSL), was handed over on Friday to Clipper Group, Denmark, which had ordered the carriers. The vessel will sail off from Kochi on her first voyage on Saturday.

The Yard noted in a release issued here that it was a matter of ‘great pride for Cochin Shipyard’ that the entire project has been completed four months ahead of schedule.

The ship was designed and built as a single-screw diesel-engine driven bulk carrier for unrestricted worldwide service. The vessel complies with the requirements for type ‘B’ ships defined by the International Convention on Load Lines, 1966. It is capable of carrying dry bulk, break bulk cargo such as grain, metal concentrates, salt and sugar. The ship is 178.70-metres long, with a breadth of 28 metres, depth of 14 metres and draft of 9.5 metres.
