Setting goals is the latest buzz in management
Special Correspondent
VISAKHAPATNAM: A new buzzword has emerged in business management in the growing and competitive market environment which is setting goal towards reaching optimum and not maximum, says Andhra Pradesh State Financial Corporation Advisor (Training and Networking Cell) G. Surender Reddy.
Addressing a seminar on project management, organised by Andhra University Department of Commerce and Management Studies (DCMS), here on Friday, he explained this with an example wherein a finance company which wanted to make more money kept on increasing the interest on loans to the maximum.
Being the buyer’s market now, if the interest is constantly increased to the maximum then customers would opt for those agencies which give more loan for lesser interest.
Though the industry might get good profit in the first year it cannot be sustained as there would not be customers in the next year.
DCMS head D. Prabhakara Rao, Centre for Banking Studies and Research Director A.R. Balla and executive MBA Programme Coordinator R. Satya Raju participated.
