NEW DELHI: The Indian National Trust for Art and Cultural Heritage (INTACH) is organising a three-day International National Trusts Organisation Conference that will be inaugurated by the Prime Minister at Vigyan Bhavan here this coming Monday.

The theme of the biennial conference is “Heritage and development”, and several topics will be dealt with over the three days: “Heritage and globalisation”, “Conservation of heritage in regions of conflict and natural disasters”, “Heritage tourism and conservation”, “Funding for conservation projects and regional cooperation”.

Discussions

Panel discussions will also be held on heritage and education, conservation management, intangible heritage, legislation for heritage conservation and the role of national trusts. This is the first time the conference is being held in Delhi and participating trusts from various countries have decided to form a cohesive network across the globe to protect and promote the world’s cultural and natural heritage. The International National Trusts Organisation will provide a platform to an international forum of conservationists and experts to exchange ideas concerning heritage and preservation issues.

Representatives from over 56 countries will take part in the event and their recommendations will be placed before a plenary panel for a final adoption. The last conference was held in Washington D.C. two years ago.
