Delhi college Principal sent on leave for ‘fraud’
Staff Reporter
“Her style of functioning had been under the scanner for quite some time” Bhagat Singh College (Evening) Principal P. Khurana to take charge
NEW DELHI: The Governing Body of Shaheed Bhagat Singh College of Delhi University sent Principal Jitinder Kaur on a week’s leave on Friday following a report indicting her for “financial and administrative irregularities”.
Dr. Kaur’s “style of functioning” has been under the scanner for quite some time with the staff association and the Delhi University Teachers’ Association running a campaign seeking action against her.
“At the Governing Body meeting on Friday, a fact-finding committee set up by it submitted its report. The report recommended her suspension as she was found guilty of financial bungling, defiance of authorities and administrative lapses,” said College Staff Association president N. K. Kalra.
The fact-finding committee comprising members from the University was constituted in October this year to look into the allegations of irregularities against her.
“At the meeting, Dr. Kaur claimed that during the inquiry she had made some representations to the committee that were not on record and had not been considered. So the Governing Body has given her a week’s time to provide copies of those old representations to them. Till that time she will be on a leave. Any decision on whether she will be suspended or not will be considered after that,” Dr. Kalra informed.
The Governing Body will now meet after a week for further action. Till then, the Principal of Shaheed Bhagat Singh College (Evening), P. Khurana, will take charge of the morning college.
