Rs.1.6 crore works to be taken up in Western Ghats

VIRUDHUNAGAR: Several development works under the Western Ghats Development Scheme would be taken up at a cost of Rs.1.58 crore in Srivilliputtur and Rajapalayam basins.

Inspecting the works on Thursday, the Collector, V. Chandrasekaran said that Rs.90 lakh would come from the District Rural Development Agency, Rs.49 lakh from Department of Agricultural Engineering and Rs.19 lakh from the Department of Forests.

The Collector inspected the construction work of a drainage at Sri Ram Nagar, a retaining wall and a loose rock check dam at Sammanthapuram.
