Staff Correspondent

Chitradurga: Over 250 students of various schools here celebrated Rajyotsava with great enthusiasm here on Friday.

The event was enjoyed by those who had gathered at the old Government High School grounds to witness the show. Kannada film personalities such as Neetushri, director Sharan and actor Tarun were present.

The event was jointly organised by private cable network Gagana Cable Communications and Little Feris Education Society to promote Kannada culture among students.

Children representing 22 schools in Chitradurga presented dance performances based on famous patriotic songs in Kannada films, portraying the diverse culture of the State.

The students, dressed in colourful and motley costumes, received a thunderous applause from the audience.

Former president of the city municipal council B. Kantaraj, and secretary of the education society B. Sanjeev Reddy, who organised the programme, said such events would be held every year.
