Bidar
BIDAR: A bus exclusively for taking tourists around the city will be introduced shortly, Managing Director of the North-East Karnataka Road Transport Corporation (NEKRTC), Shankar Patil, has said. Speaking after flagging off buses on six routes here on Saturday, he said no bus service would be discontinued. However, the bus service on the Chaubara route would take some time to resume owing to road-widening work. He said that bus services would be introduced on the following routes: Bidar-Janwada, Bidar-Khamthana, Bidar-Zaheerabad and Bidar-Anadoor. Rajahamsa bus service would be begin operations from Bidar to Hyderabad on an experimental basis. Based on the response, the corporation would decide whether to operate more buses. The bus would reach Hyderabad in three hours with stops at Zaheerabad and Sangareddy. The NEKRTC would purchase 200 buses for operation on inter-State routes. Apart from that, 650 buses would be added to the fleet, Mr. Patil said. The corporation had entered into an agreement after eight years with Andhra Pradesh and Maharashtra to ply buses on 298 routes. Mr. Patil said that the corporation was modernising bus stands in the district. In Bidar, it would be completed by next week.
