‘Free TVs to all eligible families’

‘78,800 TVs had been distributed in Namakkal’
‘6,719 families were given free LPG connections’

NAMAKKAL: The State government will distribute free colour television sets to all eligible families, Deputy Speaker of State Assembly V.P. Duraisamy said.

He was participating in the distribution of free colour TVs and stoves and liquefied petroleum gas connections at the Pachudaiyampalayam village in Namakiripet panchayat union here recently.

At the function, he said the government would make sure that the selection of beneficiaries for free colour televisions was carried out properly. More than 78,800 free colour televisions had been distributed in Namakkal district till date. A total of 6,719 families were given free gas stoves and LPG connections, he added.

Welfare assistance

Later, he handed over free TV sets to 2,918 beneficiaries and stoves and LPG connections to 190 families. He also distributed welfare assistance including free house sites, maternity assistance, old age pension and financial assistance for the agricultural labourers. Collector G. Sundaramurthi presided over the function. District Revenue Officer G. Govindaraj, elected representatives and senior officials were present.

Earlier, Mr. Duraisamy declared open the newly constructed Pachudaiyampalayam Milk Producers Co-operative Society building.

The building was constructed a cost of Rs. 3 lakh with the constituency development fund of Rasipuram MLA K.P. Ramaswamy.
