BKU’s stir hits passengers

Muzaffarnagar: Passengers had a tough time on Saturday as the road and rail services in certain parts of the district remained disrupted due to the ‘Chakka Jam’ called by the Bharatiya Kisan Union (BKU).

Activists of BKU, protesting the arrest of their leader, Mahendra Singh Tikait, blocked the roads and railways line leading to the disruption of Delhi-Saharanpur railways at Shamli and Delhi-Dehra Dun National Highway at Mansurpur and Purqazi, SSP M Ashok Jain said.

The protesters also blocked the Khatima-Panipat Highway at Lalu Kheri, he said, adding security has been beefed up in the district following the bandh. PTI
