Supporters condemn Panthu’s murder
Correspondent
Mysigandi (MAHBUBNAGAR dist.): It was a heart-rending sight in this village where scores of relatives, friends and supporters wailed inconsolably over the body of Panthu Naik, the Amangal Mandal Parishad President. Moti, the 75 year-old mother of Panthu Naik, wept asking, “What harm my son has done to them for them to kill him?” There was a steady stream of visitors with tears in their eyes as they made a beeline for the Maisamma temple for a last glimpse of their leader till the evening.
A spontaneous bandh was observed in the Mandal headquarters of Amangal as a mark of respect to the departed leader, known as a champion of the weaker sections, specially the scheduled tribes. In Kalwakurthy, the assembly constituency headquarters too, a partial bandh was observed. At all important junctions in the town, followers of Panthu Naik, hoisted black flags and garlanded portraits of the leaders.
